Okinawa has warm temperature in all year around, and is very popular sightseeing spot in Japan. It also has different scenery, gourmet from main land of Japan. There are full of attractive points. This time, we will focus on the enjoyable event held in May in Okinawa. We will introduce 3 botanical and animal events.

１.Kumejima Umigame Hall – Golden week special project – Apr 29th , 30th , Apr 3rd ~ 5th in 2018

Kumejima Umigame Hall is the facility for the safeguard of Umigame in Ou Island. There are huge water tank that is comfortable for Umingame. We can see them gracefully swimming in there. We could see Aka-Umigame, Ao-Umigame and Taimai (cute small turtle) depending on the season. In addition, we can learn the current ecology of Umigame that is facing of danger of extinction with screen panel and video. In such Kumejima Umigame Hall, The Umigame Fureai experience will be held in May as a special project. In the event, we can get close to Umigame and get the experience of feeding, washing their shell. (We can usually just looking at them) It allows only 10 people in a day. It will take about an hour and half. It is closed when reaches the capacity, so let’s make a booking in advance if you feel interesting.

2. Bios-no-oka Urizun flower festival – Mar. 1st ~ May. 6th in 2018

The hill of Bios is the natural botanical garden that has a theme of Forest and Flower in Okinawa. It is huge park and has Orchid exhibition, bouquet garden, and about 3000 of Hego trees outside and inside of the garden. It is very the Okinawa scenery. In addition, there are recommended corner for children that allow us to observe and tough the small animals. We can enjoy nature of Okinawa in whole day.
In such Hill of Bios, the 「Urizun Flower festival」will be held in between March and May. Each kind of Orchid flower will be in bloom around that period. Urizun stands for the end of spring in dialect of Okinawa. In May, 「Kochoran no Utage」 will be held that is created with Phalaenopsis and the image of a number of butter fly flying. Let’s check it!

3. The 23rd Ie Island Yuri festival – Apr. 22nd ～ May. 6th in 2018

Lily Field Park that has as huge land as 8.6 hector has been established in 1995 to restore the Teppo Lily that used to be there by the world war. In between April and May, about 200000 of Teppo Lily will be in bloom. It is called 「Iejima Yuri Festival」. The contrast of Teppo Lily and the ocean that can be seen on the north side of the park is very beautiful. We can also enjoy scenery from there with observatory. In addition, there is not only Teppo Lily but also another 100 kinds of Lily will be in bloom. Those has different beauties such as red, pink and orange color.
